Obesity and Pregnancy

Obesity in pregnancy is not good for the mother and the baby.  Obesity will bring you to some health risk.  Report says that obesity during pregnancy can cause some health problems, such as preclampsia, premature birth, overweight baby, hard labour leading to caesarean section

Many women who are overweight prior to pregnancy seem tends to gain excessive weight.  Actually weight gain is normal during pregnancy as much as 25 to 35 pounds.  Excessive weight is defined as gaining weight more than 40 pounds.

How to avoid obesity during pregnancy

The best way to avoid obesity is by controlling the weight before falling into pregnant.  However, over weight women couldn’t do it if they get pregnant accidentally. If this happen, these woman should consult to a doctor.  Controlling weight since the beginning can avoid you to further health problem.  Be sure to take a healthy diet along with safe exercise.  A doctor will observe your weight gain, so be sure to have regular visit.

Exercising during pregnancy

You can avoid too much weight gain by doing safe exercise.  Regular exercise is not only useful to shape your body, but also make you feeling better, healthier and lead you to have easier labor. You need to consider what exercise suit you.  It usually depends on the condition of your pregnancy.  Here are some safe exercises which can help you to avoid obesity during pregnancy:

  • Walking
  • Low impact aerobic
  • Stretching
  • Yoga
